Course Overview
The UAS Maintenance Technician course bridges the gap between aviation engineering and drone technology.
It combines theoretical learning, regulatory understanding, and practical workshop experience in OmniSky’s own certified drone maintenance facility.
What You’ll Learn:
- Fundamentals of UAV aerodynamics and propulsion systems
- Power systems: batteries, ESCs, and motor diagnostics
- Flight control systems: IMU, GPS, and compass modules
- Firmware and software maintenance best practices
- Gimbal, camera, and sensor calibration
- Preventative maintenance and service documentation
- Fault finding, testing, and component replacement
- SACAA maintenance logging and compliance procedures
Hands-On Learning Environment
Training takes place in OmniSky’s operational Repair and Maintenance Center, where students work directly on enterprise drones such as:
- DJI Matrice and Mavic Enterprise Series
- Autel EVO Max Series
- Parrot Anafi and Yuneec H520
- Custom and agricultural drone platforms
Learners perform real diagnostics, component replacements, and calibration exercises under the supervision of certified OmniSky technicians.
Certification & Compliance
Upon completion, graduates receive a UAS Maintenance Technician Certificate of Competence issued by OmniSky Academy, recognized for compliance with SACAA Part 66 principles.
Technicians trained through Omnisky are qualified to:
- Conduct routine maintenance and repair procedures
- Maintain maintenance logs and service records
- Support RTOs and UASOCs in regulatory compliance
- Assist in SACAA audits and fleet readiness reporting
Course Requirements
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Basic technical or mechanical aptitude recommended
- Prior RPC license beneficial (not mandatory)
- Laptop or tablet for digital manuals and logging
